Yes! Week one is officially over! We met this week Monday night and Wednesday morning and it was intense! Both sessions had their weather challenges, although the wind Wednesday morning made the chill of Monday night look like child’s play. We have such a great group of women participating with us! All levels of skill, flexibility and fitness are represented and I totally love that! The other thing I have greatly come to appreciate about this week’s workouts was that each of the four drills really played to different strengths and because of that, I think each woman found her sweet spot and gained the confidence to work out the other ones with more determination. Jordan really has put together a great series of drills each week that are aimed to work out the whole body so if you haven’t requested your own workout to be sent to you, do it now!
I think one lesson I have learned this week is the importance of making yourself your only competitor. In an environment like our boot camp, with so many different levels of skill represented, it is really easy to start competing with the other women. It is easy to become discouraged because your bear crawls aren’t as fast, your push-ups aren’t as deep or your planks are a little shaky. But, for most people, strenuous physical activity is a huge mental game and comparing yourself to other athletes just leads to your own discouragement. I love the fact that each of these women participating with us in Orlando is clearly doing it solely for her own health and well-being. And it makes it so much more “fun” (I use that term loosely here) when you don’t feel the sting of comparison with every lap around the track.
All in all, week one was exhausting, exhilarating and exciting! I am relieved to get a break until Monday night, although we will all attempt a light workout one day this weekend to keep ourselves in tip top shape for Monday! I am leaving the measuring and weighing in until this weekend but I am not anticipating much of a change this week. Monday night at 6PM marks a brand new week at Bikini Bod Bootcamp and that means a new workout routine, so its not too late to join us. We will all be starting back at square one on most Monday night sessions so feel free to jump in!
