It is finally here: the end of boot camp. Week 12 is now behind us. It’s hard to believe it is over! Looking back, I find myself amazed at how much change has taken place in just three months. It is hard to believe that we started this out freezing to death at every morning session. As I drove to boot camp this week and saw the temperature was a hot and steamy 85 degrees, I chuckled a bit at how really freaking cold it was only 3 months ago. When we started most of us could barely make it a lap around the track. Now, we move as a sweaty, gross herd crossing the finish line in under 2 minutes.
Goals have been achieved. Inches have been lost. Push-ups have been conquered and everyone still hates those dumb, stupid bear crawls. Friendships have been made and forged in the fire that only a hot, humid and gnat infested work out could create. We have cheered one another along and literally jumped hurdles together. I think you can see for yourself in our weekly photos how many results we have really seen in this session. Aside from the sunburns/suntans of working out in the grueling sun, arms are looking a little toner, legs are a little leaner and smiles get bigger and bigger.
And while a huge part of this experience was intended to bring results you can see, I think the most satisfying results are the ones you can’t see with the naked eye. Each session that we gathered we felt a little more accomplished. Each time Jordan introduced a new drill, we felt a little more confident that we could do it. We started noticing that our form was improving. It started to become about doing the drills correctly, rather than just staying upright during them.
I am so proud to have been a part of this boot camp experience. I am so proud of my best friend for leading a rag tag group of women each week so selflessly. I am proud of that rag tag group for becoming not so rag tag as the weeks progressed and turning their bodies into machines. I am proud of myself for sticking with it and keeping at it even when I was discouraged and tired. And I am extremely privileged to have worked out alongside these women and entered into their individual journeys.
So this is the end of Bikini Bod Bootcamp…for now. We are breaking for the summer because it is stupid hot out there and so humid you feel like you must be part fish to be breathing in the wet air. But come September the band gets back together. If you want to join us in the fall, just let me know. Email me or Facebook me or comment here and I will make sure you get all of the info you need to join in the fun after Labor Day.
Thanks for coming along!
